Church and Trees Card

I really like this tree stamp from Inkadinkado, and wanted to use it as a backdrop to this church and sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs. First, I stamped the trees onto some medium/dark blue CS lightly using white ink. Next the Church and sentiment were stamped and embossed with white ink and white EP, which made it stand out from the background.

I wanted the card to be all blue and white, but I didn't want the church to be solid white, so I scribbled it in with a white Gellyroll pen, which hid the trees you could see through the church, and also gave it some texture.

The image was matted with some silver mirror card and more blue CS, then mounted onto a white card, and a star "jewel" was added.

3D Christmas Pop Up Scene

This card was kind of an experiment. I decided I wanted to do a 3D scene with Marianne Creatables on hills of snow. The top photo shows the card open.

This picture shows the card closed. I wanted the inside to show when the card was closed, so I made the bottom half smaller. It isn't as pretty as I wanted it to be, but it's kind of neat anyway.

It was kind of difficult figuring how to do it so it would pop up right. Each layer is one quarter of an inch in front of the one behind it, and was done with strips of CS scored and folded into little open boxes between each layer.

All the paper is Core'dinations Pearl, in white and gold. The die cuts were colored with a Viva Decor Inka Gold Metallic Rub, and the Sentiments were embossed with gold EP and shaded with the gold ink. The sentiment panels were cut with Spellbinders. The inside sentiments are from JustRite, and the one on the front is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

Frantage and Shells Card

I can't decide whether I like this one or not. It was one of the first cards I made with the Frantage products from Stampendous.

Last July when I was getting an oil change in my truck, I got a chance to run into JoAnns. They had stamps on sale for 40% off, so I got this one, another shell one, and the trees I used on my Moose Christmas card. This shell one was beautiful, and I decided to pair it up with a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I wanted to use the Frantage Shabby White around it, so I stamped everything onto some pearl blue paper using VersaMark and Cobalt Blue EP. After running my VersaMark pad around it, I embossed it with the shabby white. The card is matted with darker blue CS and Gold Mirror card, and pearls were added to the top and bottom.

I think the card would have been prettier done on some distressed type light brown paper from a K&Co pad I have and stamped in a dark brown. The shabby white kind of overpowers it, but I was trying to do a seafoam type frame around it. I also think that next time I will try stamping the sentiment onto a die cut and just using the shell-stamped paper as a background. Oh well, it's not too ugly, and someone bought it almost as soon as I put it into my shop!

I finished cutting all my new dies today at the shop, and used the parts I cut to make some cards. I got one finished, and another one is almost done. The cards I've been working on are completely made with the new dies layered and shaded. It was so much fun! Unfortunately I forgot to bring my phone with me to take pictures with, so I'll have to take them tomorrow.

It's getting pretty cold up here now, so I suppose we will have to close up soon. I will miss the shop and seeing so many people, but most of my friends from away are gone now, so we aren't seeing many people at all now. On a brighter note, it means I will have some time to visit you all again. :-)

This is an infrared photo I took years ago of the building where my shop is. As you can see, it is on pilings over the ocean. It was once a clam factory, where they canned clams. It's beautiful there, but it gets pretty cold and drafty in there this time of year!

Butterfly Bush Birthday Card

I have a lot of hand made paper I have collected over the years. A few weeks ago, I was going through it, and decided to use this piece to make a card. The paper has grasses and flower petals in it. The grasses are rather delicate looking, and I wanted to use a stamp that also looked fairly delicate, so I chose this one from Our Daily Bread Designs. I stamped it twice, then cut out one of the stampings with the matching ODBD die. I didn't color it because I wanted to keep the outline look, and also wanted the card to be only yellow and green. The butterflies were fussy cut from the second stamping, and were applied over the first butterflies with their wings raised.

Last, I used a JustRite stamp to add happy birthday, and cut it with Spellbinders Labels Ten. The butterfly bush was mounted dimensionally using glue dots, and the sentiment was mounted using dimensional tape, and green half pearls were added. It's not one of my favorite cards, but it's different from my usual style.

Gold Poinsettia and Ribbon Card ODBDSLC130

I made this card for Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge ODBDSLC130 Gold or Silver.

For this card, I used Core'dinations Pearl CS and Gold Mirror Card. The Poinsettia is from ODBD's Blessed Christmas Set, and cut with their matching Poinsettia Custom Die. It is stamped using Versamark, and embossed with gold EP.

I had a roll of this Christmas Ribbon, which had a very sheer pale gold center with sparkly gold snowflakes, and gold borders. I decided to cut a piece of the gold mirror card a little wider than the ribbon and mount it onto that. In person, it looks like the gold under the ribbon is brushed gold, with gold mirror borders. If the sun comes out tomorrow, I'll try to get a photograph of it without a flash so you can see the effect. In this photograph, you can see the shine through the ribbon because of the way I photographed it. (I tried photographing it again, but it didn't come out great. Also, you can seewhere I ran my ATG to hold the ribbon down in the photo, but in person, you can't see it through the ribbon).

The poinsettia is mounted dimensionally onto the ribbon. The background paper was embossed using a Spellbinders M-Bossibility on just the edges, leaving a small strip between it and the gold paper, then I drew a gold line along the embossed edge with a pen, and mounted a saying, a bow, and some pearls.

Lace and Snowflakes Card ODBDSLC129

I made this card for the Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge ODBDSLC129 Winter White.

For this card, I used six layers from two different Marianne Creatables dies, cut from Core'dinations Pearl CS. I mounted the layers onto a card cut from one of the same dies.

The Rejoice and the church on the inside are from Our Daily Bread Designs beautiful Worship the Lord set. These were stamped using VersaMark and embossed with gold EP. The church on the inside was cut with another of the same dies and mounted at the top of the inside.

I tried this with silver, but my silver is very old, and it didn't show up well enough, so I did the stamping again with gold. The old EPs just didn't work as well as the new ones, and mine stamped very flat and unevenly.

I added Diamond Stickles, but they didn't add enough contrast to the card, so I added these crystal snowflakes from my stash. On my card, they are much lighter than they appear in the photograph, and match the card much better.

Now that I have seen this card on my blog, I will probably add Merry Christmas from the same set to the bottom half of the inside.

Rose Border Card

I thought I would put a non Christmas card up today. (And it's a pink one Jill) :-)

A few months ago, I found out that our AC Moore wasn't going to sell Spellbinders any more. They still had a few, but nothing that I really wanted. Since I had a 40% off coupon, and I hate going to a craft store and not buying at least one Spellbinders die, I bought this Grand Rose Border even though I wasn't sure I wanted it.

A few weeks after I got it, I tried embossing it, and using a Brilliance ink pad to color it while it was still in the die. I mounted it on a piece of 5x7 Core'dinations pink pearl card. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with it, so I Stamped this ODBD Eternity saying onto Core'dinations white pearl and cut it out with the matching ODBD Elegant Ovals die. The sentiment was stamped with Brilliance pink and embossed with clear EP, but I couldn't get a good photo of the pink, so you can't read it in the photo. It's easy to read on the actual card.

I added the die cuts to the card and outlined everything with a gold pen. Then I stuck some Spellbinders corners to the card front and stuck some roses and pearls in them, and added a narrow gold ribbon and bow to the side. Then I mounted the whole thing to a card made from more of the white pearl CS.

I don't like the card at all, but at least I used the die.

Lacy Poinsettia Card ODBDSLC127

I made this card for Our Daily Bread Designs ODBDSLC127 LEAF- Create your own letter Recipe Challenge. This week's challenge is to use three letters in the word "LEAF" and create a card or project beginning with those letters.

On my card L=Leaves, Layers, and Lacy, E=Embossing and Easel Card, A=Adhesive Pearls, and F=Flower and Fancy Fold.

The white paper is Core'dinations Pearl, the green is a generic pearlized paper, and I used gold mirror card for the mat. All stamping is VersaMark, embossed with Super Fine Detail Gold EP, and the coloring is done with Copics.

The poinsettia is from ODBD's Blessed Christmas Set and cut with their Custom Poinsettia Die. The Merry Christmas is from their Worship the Lord Set.

I also used Spellbinders Labels Eight, Decorative Labels Eight, and Fancy Tags Two, as well as some half pearls.

The poinsettia and tag are mounted dimensionally.

For my card, I used ODBD's beautiful Worship the Lord Set.

This is my first stitched card, and I decided to make an elegant card using real stitching. First, I cut a 5 inch square from Core'dinations pearl paper, and used a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set to shape the panel and make the holes for stitching. Then, I used some metallic embroidery floss to stitch in every other hole in the center square, and every hole in the outside border.

Next, I stamped the church twice, and the "Merry Christmas" once on another sheet of paper using VersaMark. After embossing with Superfine Detail Gold, I cut around the whole church scene, and around only the trees on the other church scene I had stamped. I mounted everything dimensionally onto the sewn card, then cut around the sentiment and mounted that dimensionally as well.

I wanted to stitch a Christmas star, but was afraid I'd make a mess of things, so I colored a crystal Christmas button with a Krylon 18 K pen, and used that for the star instead. The background looked kind of blank, so I added some Stickles stars. The Stickles don't look as good in the photo as they do in person. On the card, they really sparkle, and look much lighter.

Lastly, I mounted the card onto a 5 inch square card I made from the same pearl paper and traced around it with the Krylon pen.
