More flowers I made

These are some more flowers I made. Most of them are from McGill punches, but the three little roses are from Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms.

The yellow on the roses is much paler than it looks in the photo, and the greens in the leaves aren't as bright either, but I took this photo at night.

I was pretty happy with the McGill flowers, especially since it was my first try, but I think I need more practice with the Bitty Blossoms. I'm not at all happy with them. I have wanted those dies for a long time because of the beautiful flowers Marisa Job has made with them, but mine don't look at all like hers. I will practice some more though, and I'm sure they will get better! I also wish I had shaded the outside of the yellow petals on the pansy with purple. I think it would have looked more real that way. The center of the pansy and the stamen on the Calla Lilly are the ultrafine orange crush Flower Soft.

I also played around with some premade roses I got on clearance at Michaels last year. All of these were white, but I used some Brilliance stamp pads, and different brands of glitter sprays to color them. Some of the flowers were colored with more than one shade of spray. The ones which still look white have pearl shades on them so they shimmer in real life. I've found that I like buying white flowers best, because then I can color them to match my projects.

Flower Soft Bouquet Card

Today I wanted to try making one of those floral bouquets with Flower Soft. I had originally planned on it looking different than it does. Instead, it ended up looking very much like one of the examples in the Flower Soft instructions. I guess they knew better than me, what looks good on a card! :-)

I'm still not really happy with this card, it looks kind of plain, but at least I've finally made a bouquet.

The paper is Core'dinations Pearl, in pink and white, and the diecut is a Marianne Creatables. The cone is from one of the sheets in Flower Soft's Floral Card Making Starter Kit. The kit is great because it contains a lot of examples from their other kits, and gives you an idea of what is in each kit, as well as three colors of Flower Soft. The color I used for the flowers is from the Flower Soft - Bouquet Colour Selection Box on the same page.

The "pearls" are Liquid Pearls.

Flower Soft Card and a present from ODBD

A few months ago, I bought my first Flower Soft kit, Flower Soft - Bouquet Colour Selection Box from Our Daily Bread Designs. Then I bought a few more colors from them with other orders. I had always been curious about the card making kits, but wasn't sure wihich ones I wanted, so late one night I ordered the Floral Card Making Starter Kit. This kit contained wires, Flower Soft, and samples of different card toppers, vases, glue, and other goodies. The next morning, there was this post on the ODBD blog introducing a new color, and a special sale. I looked at my order from the night before, and I had automatically gotten the discount, even though I had ordered just before the post went up! I hadn't ordered the Patriot color though, because I didn't know about it. When I saw the blog post, I just figured I would order it next time.

Well, the next time I ordered, I forgot to order the Patriot color and never gave another thought to it. This morning, I received my newest order from ODBD, and in it were two separate packages. I opened one package, and it contained all the beautiful things I had ordered. I was puzzled. What could be in the other package??? When I opened it, it contained a container of Patriot FlowerSoft! Wow, that was so nice of the wonderful people at ODBD! Thank you all so much!

Anyway, this is the first card I have made with the starter kit. The 3-D design on this card is contained in the Flower Soft - Scenic Windows Spring kit as well as the starter kit. It was really fun to make!

My first Card With Flower Soft

I got my Flower Soft from Our Daily Bread Designs yesterday, and didn't have time to try it, so as soon as I could today, I made a card.

I knew I wanted to use my Heartfelt Creations die by Spellbinders to make a window with a flowery scene behind it. This design in one of my sheets of toile CS looked like it would work perfectly for it. I cut the scene out a little larger than the opening in the die cut and colored it lightly with colored pencils. Then I applied Flower Soft to every tree and plant in the scene. My Flower Soft is the Bouquet box, which has seven colors in it, and I was so excited to finally get it that I used all of them! :-) The set didn't have any green, so I decided I would make a flowering tree in honor of spring. The Flower Soft looks much more subtle in person than it does in the photograph.

I mounted the scene on some paper I bought by the sheet at an art supply store. This paper has a subtle pattern that reminds me of wallpaper around the window. The paper was mounted onto white CS using my Xyron before I adhered the scene to it.

I outlined the teardrops on the die cut with a Pen Touch pen, and mounted it over the scene with dimensional tape after cutting out the cross pieces in the window.

Everything is mounted on ordinary purple CS which is mounted on a white card. I added Queen & Co pearls to brighten up the purple a bit.
