Well, this one is different, it looks much better in person, since the colors aren't as bright, and the red is actually more of a burgundy color. (Copic R89).
Anyway, I kept seeing cards on pinterest where they colored over white embossing powder. Unfortunately, whoever originally pinned the cards did it from the blown up page on blogspot rather than the blog page itself, so even after googling for hours, I never found the person who did the original cards. (When you pin the enlargement, it just shows something like 2bp or 4bp rather than the blog address).
I decided to try this background stamp, since it would have quite a lot of white once I used the EP on it. It was stamped with VersaMark and embossed in white, then I colored it with my Copics. I'm not sure this is a great idea, because a lot of white from the EP does get on the tips of your markers. Mine still seem to work fine, but I'm not sure how many times I would want to try this without any extra tips on hand.
The card stocks I used are generic teal, generic black, gold mirror card and some gold and teal patterned paper I got at a paper mill years ago. The label is one of the newest ones from Spellbinders, the pearls are Liquid Pearls, and the sentiment is from JustRite.

ReplyDeleteThis is a very lovely, intricate looking card.

Where do you get the gold mirror paper?
Hi Myrna, the gold mirror card is really difficult to find. The only place I have ever seen it is at an art supply store about an hour away from us.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately they don't order it very often, so every time I see it at that store I buy every sheet they have. I only have one or two sheets left, so I am using it sparingly right now.
I have seen it in European shops on the internet, but it always says the gold mirror card can't be sent to the US for some reason.
Who ever makes it here must have a monopoly on it or something.
Beautiful card Kathi. Gorgeous colours.
ReplyDeleteOne of the few ways I can actually use my COPICs--LOL! I first saw it as a PTI MIM challenge last year, I think. Your card came out great!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Kathi...Looks like a LOT of coloring...but so worth it...looks like your card is made with expensive tapestry fabric.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info re the gold cardstock.
I have a blogging friend who gave me a tip on using my precious pieces. Instead of layering onto the whole thing she just cuts out the part she needs to show and saves the rest for another card. Of course, the cut out part gets smaller each time but at least you have some left. I used that on some of the fancy paper I can no longer find.
JD is right. It DOES look like tapestry.
