Butterfly Birthday

I liked the Just Rite Stamps Challenge #069 so much this week that I had to make another card. This week's challenge is Spring Fling, and we had to use spring colors and butterflies in our project. We had some snow yesterday and the day before, so working on spring projects makes me forget the snow!

For today's project, I used the Just Rite Applique set on the front of the card. The background is some Anna Griffin paper I have had for years. I thought the fine pattern matched the fine lines in the stamp set.

I cut the die cuts with Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Squares out of ordinary white CS and used my dauber things to stencil them with VersaMagic Perfect Plumaria, and VersaMagic Aegean Blue while they were still in the die.

Since I wanted the lace around the edges to be white, I daubed patches of the same ink onto white CS and stamped the design with Versamark, then used white embossing powder. I then cut the stamped design on the die embossed line of the square part of the die cut and mounted only the center colored square over the unstamped die cut. (I hope that was clear). Anyway, it achieved the look I wanted, and I didn't have to try to center the stamp perfectly into the die cut.

Then I did the same thing on the the inside, only I used a border from Just Rite's Christmas Nested Frames Set, and a saying from their Elegant Frames Set. I used Just Rite's custom dies from Spellbinders to cut the inside die cuts.

The butterflies are from Martha Stewart's Monarch Butterfly punch. I used pink and blue Liquid Pearls to accent the die cuts and butterflies. All the butterflies and die cuts are mounted dimensionally.
